"Qualifications"

In the psychological field, counseling and clinical work are the occupation I prefer to have. And to obtain either of those careers, I have to be sensitive, have good communication and have the ability to lead and inspire others
Be sensitive to the patient and their problem. It would be quite difficult to do counseling the psychologist would say anything things you want to say. Some words that might come out of the mouth might hurt the patient; and it may make them feel worst. The reason why they are there is so that they will feel better, and not worst.
It's important to communicate with them clearly. As a psychologist, it's necessary to have have the ability to converse with the patient. Most of the time, patients won't necessary ask for advice; they only need someone to listen about their problems and dilemmas. Though their are some who would wish to hear advice, and that's why it's important to have good communication skill. If the psychologist don't know how to answer or give an advice, the patient will be troubled more than he/she is. It seem like no one will ever give them answers, thus can make them feel worst.
And of course, a great psychologist must act like a leader to their patients. They have to set as an example in order for the patients to have the motivation to heal. Most psychologically ill people are looking for others to look up to.
These three qualifications are important to succeed in this field. Though you might not have these characteristic yet, if you surely are passionate for this career, you will eventually develop them.

  1. I could definitely see you going into this type of career because those are all qualities that you already have :) I have to disagree a bit though. No matter how passionate about something a person can be, I think that is not always a guarantee that they will actually be good at it.

    1. Thank you Rachelle~ Hmm yeah, you're right in a way as well. But if you really want to accomplish something, you'll try your hardest to be good at it :)

  2. Alyssa you will definitely succeed in this career. Being your friend for all of high school, I have seen all sides of you, and I know that you have every attribute necessary to be a great psychologist and a leader to your patients. And to respectfully disagree with Rachelle I believe that passion speaks a lot for something. If you are truly passionate of something then you can put your head into whatever task and roadblock that lays ahead and achieve anything you want. Good luck on your future because it is truly bright:]

  4. I think you would do so well in this field! I think it's amazing how much patience and empathy someone in the psychology department needs to have to succeed. If you're taking psychology now with Atton, was it that class that made you want to pursue this career?
